New South Wales reserved an Australia Cup spot for their Federation Cup winner. In 1964 this was St George Budapest, which also finish second in the league.

Only the Brisbane play-off for a quarter-final place was an Australia Cup fixture: Latrobe (Premiers) vs. Merton Rovers (Champions).

Therefore Grange Thistle and Brisbane Hellenic (third and fourth) did not compete in Australia Cup matches in 1964.

Only the South Australia play-off for a quarter-final place was an Australia Cup fixture: Adelaide Juventus (First) vs. Adelaide Budapest (Second).

Therefore Seacliff Austria and Adelaide Croatia (third and fourth) did not compete in Australia Cup matches in 1964.

The semi-finals and final of the Western Australia Top Four Cup were used as qualifying matches for a Australia Cup quarter-final place, but were not actual Australia Cup matches.

North Perth qualified for the Australia Cup quarter finals after defeating Swan Valley 5-0 in the Final of the Top Four Cup.
