- No official system was used at this time to rank teams

- Where two teams are close on Proportional Points (less than 4.00 points separate) then head-to-head results between teams are used to rank:
------ Melbourne played Carlton four times and won twice, lost once, and drew once.
- Behinds were rarely recorded during this season. Games were decided by goals scored only, and behinds did not count towards the final score or in determining the result of matches.
- The percentage column of goals for divided by goals against is included as an indication only.
